Fun Hawaii Trivia To start with, Hawaii is one beautiful place on the planet with eight main islands. The tropical lush green "everything" is enough to make even the most dreary day on vacation one that is exciting and memorable. Do you know all 8 main islands? Let's see… there is… Lanai, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Niihau, Kahoolawe, and the one of which everyone knows as the, "Big Island" of Hawaii. Of all the islands and other contents, the Hawaiian islands are the most isolated from any other land area around the world. If you consider all the islands put together, the Hawaiian islands have the longest distance from one end to the other than any other state in all of the U.S. And, let's add to that the fact that Hawaii is the only U.S. state that grows coffee. I'll bet you didn't know that, huh? Hawaii produces 1/3 of the worlds commercial supply of none other than, yep, you guess it - pineapples! Ever heard of a man named, Hiram Fong? No? Well, he was the very first Asian-American to be in the U.S. Senate. He was one of the Chinese immigrants to plant themselves in Hawaii. The lovely majestic Hawaiian Island mountain tops are the biggest ranges in the world. Now, that's something of a surprise, wouldn't you say? The zenith star that raises above Honolulu is called, Hokule'a, which is pronounced like, Hoo koo lay uh. br> If you paid attention in school you would probably remember that Hawaii was the 50th state admitted to the U.S. union on August 20, 1959. You know how we have the PST, CST and EST, which is our time zones, pacific, central and eastern, standard time zones. Well, Hawaii has its own time zone, it's the HST or Hawaiian Standard Time zone.
